Overview
Fangsheng is a Lecturer in Management Science at the University of Southampton Business School. He is also a member of CORMSIS, S3RI and the Southampton Marine & Maritime Institute.
His work integrates operational research, statistical modelling, and decision analytics to tackle complex problems in transportation and supply chains. Recent projects explore ship speed optimisation, cash-flow based decision models and links between high-dimensional data and managerial decision-making.
He completed an MSc and PhD at Southampton, following a BSc in Mathematics from Wuhan University. Since 2022, he has also served in a coordinating role for CORMSIS.

- Transportation and speed optimisation: modelling economic speeds and charter-contract decisions to improve profitability and sustainability.
- Supply chain management and game theory: incentive design and strategic interactions for operational performance.
- Statistical and mathematical modelling: methods that connect high-dimensional data to real-world decisions.
